What type of hibiscus do you prefer?

I was thinking of putting a Lord Baltimore on the right side of my driveway and a Lady Baltimore on the left.... I put a Disco Belle on my son's memorial spot and a Turn of the century in my second flower bed. Which do you like and why?

When planting the "bones" of the garden, cohesiveness is the key principle to remember for a successfully "put-together" look and feel to your olace.

I bring this up because you mention this particular planting as being in a highly visible and important location of your property, which is each side of your driveway. Either hybrid is your choice, but you may go from a couple of nice plants to an outstanding and elegant statement by using the same hybrid on each side, pruned to match.

Once you have the basic bones laid out, there is plenty of room for fun and whimsy within your framework, as in the "Disco Belle" on your son's memorial spot and the "Turn of the Century" in the other bed.

I think you are making good choices! It is always wise to draw a plan of your place and study the grid carefully. and then go outside and take photographs of the various views of the property...this gives perspective that you just can't get any other way...and do your planning before the trip to the garden center. It is tempting to load up on all that nifty stuff that is in bloom right then, but boy oh boy did I end up with a circus when I operated that way.

Check out these unusual Hibiscus which are grown in Louisiana where I live. I used to work for Mr. Bobby Dupont, who has a genius for breeding Hibiscus. He calls them "Cajun Hibiscus". You'll never find this variety of color anywhere else.
