Swollen before period and on Yasmin?
I'm trying to figure out if this is because of my period or because I have legitimately gained a ton of weight. Now I'm not skinny, but I've been at the pretty consistent range of 145-150 at 5 ft 7 in, which is pretty good for my height. In the past week or so, I've gone up as high as almost 156.
Plainly, I feel FAT. My stomach is puffy and hard, and my arms look COMPLETELY SWOLLEN. My arms seem to be the most evident, they really look huge :(
I'm on the birth control Yasmin, so it seems strange that I would have PMS symptoms, but I also have had to pee a lot, and my back hurts (indicative of my period coming since this is my off week).
So I don't know. I wish I could blame this on my period, but I think I have to face the fact that my going to the gym 4 days a week still hasn't stopped me from stuffing my face :( I've even had to sacrifice some really good food during the holidays.
Has anyone had this kind of swelling before their period, even while on birth control? Thanks!
I've been on Yasmin for a little over a year - no problems and no weight gain that I can see. But I have thought about switching to Yaz.

I would advise that you go see your gynecologist and have an annual exam. I have a long history of being on a variety of birth control pills (I was sensitive to all of them and it was difficult to find the right one I could handle) plus a few medical problems that have to do with the reproductive area.
What you describe sounds like normal premenstrual symptoms. You can have them whether you are on the pill or not. Many people get really hungry in general or start to crave a particular food, have increased urination, lower back pain and being bloated (this can also happen for others reasons which is why I think you should see your gynecologist) before their period. See your doc and they may decide to change your pill or do some tests....or it could be completely normal.

How long have you been on Yasmin? I have been on Yasmin twice and I gained about 20 the first two months I was on the pill both times. Since I'm only 5' that is a lot of weight! In addition to the weight gain I was really bloated before my period. I switched from Yasmin to Yaz and I feel much better. I've been on Yaz for over a year now with no weight gain. I actually have lost 15 of the 20 I gained on Yasmin.
