How much does a male bartender make at an average bar/club?
Im just weighing my options for supporting myself while Im a volunteer firefighter. I know that women make wayyy more as bartenders but I know guys still make decent cash. I am good looking, sorry I am! so a gay bar wouldnt be bad if it meant more tips.

Club work is fast paced and exciting, but you'll start off at the bottom.
The reality is, the bartender controls the money, so nobody hires bartenders off the street. You need to get a job as a bar back.
You will be the runner for the barman and be learning the job at the same time. After you have worked for a year or two as a bar back, you can expect to move on to the bar. Your tips will depend on your skills and where you are working. Since you are good looking, you should be able to charm your guests! And EVERYBODY loves a fireman!
It's really hard to break in to the money shifts so do your homework! I've worked in bars where the staff rotated regularly, so fast you didn't have time to learn names, but the same crew worked Friday and Saturday for 20 years!
So to actually answer your question, not alot to start but with practice and a little luck, you could easily make $500 a night.
Good Luck!
