Go to the police department and file a report and post a copy on your door and on the landlord's door so the hitman sees it.

most likely he is not. I would search for a new apartment when your lease is up though. Call the police and report the incident, tell them what was said. Most likely he is not getting a hitman, but its always good to have a record of what happened with the police.

Well, I would call the cops. You landlord should not be threading to send a hitman to kill you. That's really weird you landlord doesn't need to be a landlord. I would call the cops. Thats crazy.

Instead of appealing to the internet, you need to make a police report. Know this though, once you report him, he will proabably be out to get you. He may have said it just in hopes that you move out. Better to get a police report than for something to happen and no suspects.

Tell him you have reported him to the police. Maybe you should not be smoking in the hall? Is there a sign posted telling you not to? If he does not want you smoking in the hall he should post a sign.
