Question for Scientologists...?

I have been interested in learning what exactly you believe, so I began to research late yesterday. I am usually open to most everything I learn about other peoples religions, but this.....this was weird. So I need to know, why if this is clearly a cult, do you call it a RELIGION? And who the heck is your God? Is that Xenu martian your god? Please explain, because it is CLEARLY a hoax. Noone could truly believe this. With all due respect, that is.

Actually, neutronsolstice, from what I have read they ALL believe in this Xenu dude and that he put the alin souls in volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs and yadda yadda yadda. It sounds to me like this is not a religion. In other religions, you don't have to pay to recieve more knowledge about your religiona and spirituality. It is free to you. And all knowledge should be free, right? It sounds like the work of a madman who decided to create one of the biggest hoaxes out there. I just want to know from a scientologist, or from someone who may know a practicing scientologist how they bought into this! It is unreal!

    Good question! This "religion" was cooked up by the Science Fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.

    read the book dianetics that space stuff must be new ive never heard of it i dont think L Ron Hubbard really believed all that spacee space stuff just some off branch of scientologists like mormons to christians i would imagine

    Mormon's have magical underwear and think God is from the planet Kalob.

    Christian's believe of the first and only undocumented virgin birth.

    Scientology is just a newer religion.
