Does anybody else hate south florida as much as I do?
I grew up in the west palm beach area, went to college in tallahassee (FSU) and now live in baltimore for grad school and i absolutely HATE coming home to south florida. people think i'm crazy.
i can't stand the humidity, rain, old people, immigrants (i appreciate the ones that have learned the language and are holding their own), rudeness, lack of education, and the general snootiness exhibited by people of the area (especially the people with no education spending their entire income on a leased BMW).
although baltimore ain't the greatest, i do like the seasons, educated people, history, and washington dc.
does anybody feel the same way i do about south florida?? please tell me i'm not crazy!!
Ok- maybe hate is a bit of an exaggeration. I guess I should have asked "hate to live" ,, i think it's a fine place to vacay because the beaches, shopping, and women are nothing short of amazing.... but to live?

South Florida is boring. I live in Miramar which is around Pembroke Pines and Hollywood and there's nothing to do here anymore. I was born and raised here and I'm getting tired of it now. It's to hot here and winter is similar to summer except you get a cold front once in a while. The beaches are boring now since you've been to them over a ton of times. The people here drive like retards especially around Ives Dairy Road going to Aventura Mall. The only good thing to do here is hang out with friends and go to the movies. I'm 17 years old and I'm a senior in high school and as soon as I graduate in June I'm outta this damn place. After I move I will never ever move back to South Florida.

I've lived here almost 8 years now and I 'm a senior. Florida is so over rated. I hate the humidity. I hate the boring monotonous weather. I hate the traffic. I hate the illegals. If you don't swim, golf, boat or fish there is NOTHING to do. You have to watch sun exposure or you could easily end up with skin cancer. The doctors are slime balls sitting on a gold mine of old people. There are far too many old people. It's definitely not where I want to live. I can't wait to get out of this place. I would rather live in Baltimore any day than here. I'll take slip and slide any day. I miss the cold weather and seasons. Heaven on earth? You mean paradise that lasts what...maybe 3 months if you are lucky...and you sweat your ever loving *** off the rest of the time. I also hate the smugness of those who live here and think everyone else wants to too.

I hate it here. I do love the native landscape and unspoiled areas when you can find them. That s the problem, the whole area gets sold out to developers as the fast buck is more important. They just change zoning laws to suit whoever has money. There are seasons here if you pay attention, and no it s not like up north seasons. Go back,if you want that. I hate the psychotic drivers, the poor service, the complete unfriendliness of the people. I ve lived in other areas of Florida that were OK. West palm Beach is a true pit. I e had. Red it card information stolen multiple times, to the point that I won t use local businesses anymore. Amazingly, someone is always trying to use my cc in Mexico. What does that tell you. I am definitely lower middle class and work for a living. I have been cursed at for being a rich ***** for simply standing my ground. Seriously, I have been here over 3 years and can t wait to get out.

I moved here from East Central Florida this past July from the beautiful Space Coast and I can assure you the beaches there are absolutely gorgeous, clean and uncluttered. And, you do not have to pay to park to go to nature. Ridiculous. I find everything is a challenge, parking, driving, customer service, finding a job. And the crime well Olando has nothing on S. Florida. I thought it was bad where I came from. Huh, uncomparable to down here. And how in the heck can people afford to live down here? It s double the cost and what you get for dble the price is old and decrepit, in crappy neighborhoods with asshat, rude drivers that can t wait for a pedestrian to move from the crosswalk. Rude, rude, rude. As soon as possible I will relocate back north of here where it is more like the good ole south with kindness and respect and free to go to the beach. You can keep South Beach and all the little flooded, international communites around it. It s not all it s cracked up to be unless you like expensive parking and crowds.

I don't hate it here. I hate the snow though, and I'd rather be in the heat and humidity than where you slip and slide on ice and snow. I also don't want to live where everyone looks and talk exactly like I do. I appreciate diversity instead of being fearful of it. Baltimore is OK I guess. Much smaller, maybe it does have a longer history than South Florida, but it certainly doesn't have more history. If you think that than sadly, you never learned much about the history of South Florida. And you are painting people with a wide brush when you assume everyone spends their entire income on a leased BMW. I've never leased, owned or even driven a BMW and neither do any of my friends or neighbors. South Florida isn't everyone's cup of tea, even to those born and raised here but for those of us who appreciate the very things you despise it's like heaven on earth. Sounds like you've found the place you are supposed to be.

I live in florida too I really hate it basically for the same reasons as everyone else here does. I used to live up in the hills of Texas. It was really nice there. It snowed, It was a small little town and everyone was nice it was a very lively town with history and a lot of mexican culture it was north of el paso, but you could never tell we were near a big city. It was really pretty there. Especially the fall and spring. Then in 1999 years old, I moved right outside tampa. I remember thinking it was a cultural-less, barren, flat, hot wasteland. Everyone changed from nice and hospitable to cruel and fake. The whole 11 years i lived there It never even came close to snowing or going under like 40 degrees. I hated it and I wanted to get at as soon as possible but long story short, I did. Now I am a college student at University of Pittsburg ( pretty good college for my standards) and I love it up here. I remember when I crossed the border into Georgia I swore i would never go back. lol

Yes, this is an old thread, but I've come to "hate" south Florida in a completely different way. Two years ago I agreed to move here to help my sick mother. She lives in the Treasure Coast area about two hours north of Miami. Unless you are a sick, old person or just a sick person there is nothing here and it gets old to go to the beach or the bars. Sorry. Year-round warmth sounds great if you've ever been through a below zero style blizzard in the Midwest or Northeast, but nine months of the high humidity heat/sameness gets extremely tiring. In the mid 90s through the mid 00s I also lived in the Orlando area, so I KNOW what I'm talking about. The entire southeast coast gets besieged by swarms of often rude snowbirds every November through April. I'm a lifelong Met's fan and initially was excited by being so close to where they play spring training, but the one game I went to was such a hassle and the fans surrounding me so annoying I'd rather just watch them during the regular season in a place like Chicago or Cincinnati. So guess what! I'm out of here!

I hate South Florida. Very boring. Weather is boring. Sometimes you go months without a drop of rain or wind. Beaches suck (LOL right), I actually spend a lot of money to go to the beaches up north on Long Island NY. New York beaches have very large waves at the ocean beaches, every day. Very large sand dunes and light houses. South Florida has no waves at the beach and no sand dunes at all.(that I can see.) I thought at least I would see some cool hurricanes here but you get more of that up in New York also. (hurricane Wilma and Andrew only hurricanes in 30 years and Andrew was a small storm, devastating, but small) Miami beach is cool but over rated that s for sure, I can do without it. Ft Lauderdale had spring break but they gave it away to Mexico !!!!

I lived in South Florida until the age of 34, many people just don t get it when I try to explain moving to a "Boring" place like Silver Spring,MD.
I usually say something like," I love the place but hate the people."
I m of Cuban descent, so I don t want to point one finger at one group.
It seems everyone is living up to the full potential of their particular stereotype. This makes everyone try to out do each other in this respect.
It funny to think about how many nice people I have had the pleasure of meeting since moving here. Crime, crime is everywhere, but where I live
I could never live like this in Florida. Left the car unlocked, house unlocked, kids bikes in the front yard, nice neighbors and alot more family friendly stuff for my family than that area of Florida had when I was growing up. I just can t get into it ALL on this post.

Haha. I came across this 7 years too late, but I wanted to give you my input.
You ARE NOT crazy to hate living in South Florida. I hate it too. I love your joke about people who aren't educated, but they live paycheck to paycheck trying to support their BMW purchase. It's SO true! I joke all the time about people living beyond their means down here. It's like everyone feels the need to "keep up with the Jones.'" It's sickening to me.
I'm from the Midwest, and we have great schools there. I'm appalled by the graduation rates and school ratings down here. I'm actually afraid to have children because I don't want them growing up with bad schools and this kind of environment. I want them to remain innocent for as long as I can, and I'm afraid that just won't happen here. I know people who grew up in South Florida, and they had a coke dealer who delivered drugs to their middle school every Thursday. This was at a private school where people pay $22,000 per child for 3 Pre-K and their parents send their kids there so they can socialize with all the filthy rich parents who send their kids there. Again, it just sickens me.
I find it amazing that a place that's so warm in temperature can be so cold in attitude. I would take warm people and a cold climate over sun and assholes any day!
