Everyone knows; most people just choose to call him the "1st black president," rather than the "1st fifty percent black president."

Also, Obama calls himself "black," rather than "mixed."

Nothing against him, but honestly, he probably did that for his campaign; sadly, many people voted for him SOLELY because he is "black."

Well most blacks in the USA ARE mixed anyway (even though you prob can't tell) many of us also have some white ancesry or american indian, or other. But guess what we still get called African-American too so whats the diff????

So if you were to see Obama in person, but you knew nothing about his ethnic background (or, i mean you didn't know he was half white) what race would you automatically pass him off as??? EXACTLY. works the same way for us 2.

united states of america of america (the recent international) is insecure of it relatively is identity because it has no historic history like something of the previous international. despite the fact that, in assessment to something of the recent international who're pleased with the rustic they stay in, individuals are continuously making referrence to 'their' history. One isn't an American, you're Irish American or African American and so on. not even the daily Swearing of Allegiance has extra the countries peoples mutually. possibly it relatively is the reason there are various of matters concerning to the race and intercourse of the President. American society has not at all been pleased with it relatively is identity.

the first president to admit/acklonledge his african american side because there was a president that had A.A. ancestry but denied it or ran something like that I forgot the entire story. the way the world looks at it is ":Who cares if he's part white , theres been many white presidents infact ONLY white president, so thats why he's more known as being the 1st A.A. president because he truly is half black, and there wasn't a president thats actually half black.

Granted, Obama is technically the first biracial president.

But, the fact that he has white blood is totally irrelevant.

That's all you're ever going to hear because Obama himself chose to be referred to as a black man, that is what he calls himself. So who are you or any of us to tell the man what race he chooses to identify himself with? Get over it already.

I am [considered to be] a white American. For the first time in my life [I am 58] I am proud to be American ..... finally! To paraphrase Michelle ....

I call myself 'white' and check that box because my ancestors lived as 'whites' [Sometimes just barely passing}. Obama calls himself 'black' - maybe just barely passing.

Yes. This is a great country - even though a bit slow.

who ever said that obama is ashamed of being white is ridiculous. he spoke highly of his white mother and grandmother. he is not ashamed at all. american society defined anyone who has any part black in them is black. obama didnt put that tag on him american society did. but whats the point of this question. are you mad that he's identifies with being black? because he is black and he let everyone know that he's part white. they played documentaries throughout the campaign season of his mom and grandparents. he was so far from being ashamed.

Does it really matter ? What does it have to with the qualities of being good (or bad) president and his skin color ? He is intelligent is for sure let's wait and see how he rules
