I'm getting my tonsils out, and turbinoplasty in my nose the same day, and I'm wondering what to expect.?

I'm 35 and have had tonsil problems for years. The turbinoplasty is supposed to help me be able to breathe through my nose better. My doctor tells me it will probably be the worst surgery I've ever had in my life, so I'm nervous. Have any other adults gone through this, and what can I expect during the healing process? I can't even sleep at night if I have a sore throat - which I do often, right now actually, since I'm always getting tonsillitis.

My doctor has been very thorough and helpful, but I just want to hear from people who have been through this.

I had my tonsils removed when I was 16. Not going to lie to you it is going to hurt like H***. probably they worst expecence in my life. You cant hardly eat jello, and they expect you to wolf down a hambuger the next day. Your throut will itch and there is nothing you can do because you dont want to swallow. I puked a few times which you have to be very carefull with because you cant strain your stitches to bad. dont want them to bust open. Dont expect to go to work for a week or so. The sleeping problem dont worry about that they have you on pain killer that will knock you right out my dear. honestly i think you should spread your surgerys out because im sure a turbinoplasty will hurt pretty bad also and the tonsils was bad enough by its self. have both would be like living in a world of pain

You will wake up with tampons in your nose to absorb the blood.

you will have to breath through your mouth.

you will have pain and need to take analgesia.

you will have bad breath from the blood in the back of your throat.

you will have the tampons removed on the 2nd or 3rd day.

at least you will never have tonsillitis again!
