Normal tempature for a five day old newborn?
Just wondering the normal temps...when is it too low, too high? Noticed daughter was extra irritable ALL morning long...I was up with her every hour...and took temp. It was 98.1 and I thought that was too low. I had her swaddled at this point and put a cap on her, as well as put a blanket over her and got a heater in the room...she went right to sleep and I have checked on her every thirty minutes and have the baby monitor glued to my side. Is this temp cause for alarm?

This link is a short page all about Babies, Newborns, and Fevers. It should answer your question, the babies temperature (normal) should range from 97.5 to 99.1 and the Normal Ractal Temperature is normal of 100.2.
Go on the site anyway, it should help you. Good Luck with The New One !

i wouldn't worry, at this age babies can't regulate their temperatures and she probably got a little cold. the whole time at the hospital with my daughter the nurses had me swaddle her in 5 blankets because her temp kept reading in at 97.1 but to this day her temperature w/o a fever is 97.1

I don't know honestly. I wouldn't think so though. Just keep her bundled and keep her lil hat on. My 20 day old stayed at 98.6 at her 2 day and 1 week checkups, but at her 2 week checkup she was 98.3, and they didn't seem worried at all.
She might have just gotten a little cold, or it might be totally normal. Sounds like you did good and she's fine now though regardless lol. G'luck and congrats.
