What to do for a gassy baby?

My daughter is five days old and my milk just came in. We normally feed every three hours which her doctor said was fine, but he also said she might wish to eat more now since the milk has come in. She was wanting to feed ALL morning long...I would say about 4 times in 2 hours, for at least 20 minutes each. And while I did think this was excessive, I just thought that it was what the doctor had been telling me would happen. Turns out she just didn't feel well and was trying to comfort herself...I had at first ruled out the comfort sucking thing because she refused her paci. Well, end result is I believe she got overfed and is extremely gassy and fussy. Anything I can do to relieve her???

Mylicon drops are great but a better solution is Gripewater. It can be found at most pharmacies and is a more natural option. My pediatrician recommended it and it worked wonders. It is also great for teething!

Get a tiny heating pad like one you stick over your eyes that you can stick in the microwave and put it on her tummy. If you dont have a heating pad grab a washcloth wet it and wring it out and put it in the microwave for 30 sec. then stick that on her tummy make it warm not hot cause her skin is sensative, We had this problem kinda with my daughter. We were using liquid formula in the hospital but the 2 oz bottles and when we got home my mom got the same exacte thing in 8 oz bottles but it was stronger then the hospital and she had really bad gas the first night, i had a heating pad for my eyes and i heated it up and it helped her to relax and it helped the gas out, we swiched her to powder and everything was fine. Keep the warmth on her tummy and pat her back to help the gas work its way out.

you can try a bicycle type motion with her legs, and to keep trying to burp her, if any one can get away to the store have them pick up some little tummies gas drops, they work wonders (and almost instantly), you can also try mylicon drops. but i would only use the drops as a last resort. they are safe, but she might not need them
