BASS DRUM, when i hit it it echoes it's not a solid thud is this because i need to tighten my heads?

Or is it because of my quality of the bass drum (sound percussion)

The tuning doesn't do much. Well, it does but for beginners like me I don't really adjust it. Only the snare drum's tuning is adjusted depending on the type of music I play. Anyway, Best thing to do, is put a pillow in the bass drum. Or if pillows are precious in ur house, ;) use a carpet. :) Or if u want both type of sounds, as in echoed as well as the solid thud, when you step on the pedal, don't lift ur feet back up too quickly.Peace.

Put a pillow or a heavy sweater INSIDE it to dampen the sound, and tuning does count, so be careful how you do it. Watch some video lessons on youtube maybe.

I shove a blanket in mine! Yeah a bit of tuning helps too-but I'm no good at that so I use the blanket trick!
