I have a 2007 Civic Hybrid and need tires. The dealership has encouraged me to purchase them from them, to?

ensure better fuel-efficiency--it's ridiculously expensive. I think I can get the same tires elsewhere for much less. Any hybrid owners or experts who can give me some feedback? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I believe that OEM tires for that car are either Bridgestone Insignia SE200-02 or Dunlop SP31 A/S and the size is 195/65R15.

Call around and check prices at other tire dealers and compare that to the dealer's prices.

You can also buy tires online at http://www.tirerack.com/ but their prices will not include mounting or balancing and you will have to take into account the shipping cost. Their base cost for the Bridgestones are $74 each and $86 each for the Dunlops.

The customer ratings on the Dunlops are really bad. Out of 20 tires they rate number 19. I wouldn't even consider them. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=D...

Only 4 persons rated the Bridgestones and they didn't rate them well either. http://www.tirerack.com/survey/SurveyComments.jsp?...

Compare ratings with other tires: Hope this link works --> http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/survey...

i worked for ******* tire distributors. we sold tires to all the dealers and the mom and pop shops. every single one of them has a tires and wheels catalog book(s) and can purchase the tires for you. most dealers will go the extra step with checking other mechanical parts and charge you for the inspections as a standard procedure. you get to pay extra for that without knowing. a dealership will try to profit more than 50%-100% for the service when the smaller shops only make 10%the smaller shops don't do that. most of the time the smaller shops make their money from the tire installations fees only. they break even with the money used on ordering/buying the tires through us and profit only from the labor. results are you save more money.

You should be able to get the same brand, type, and size tire cheaper from a tire store than from the dealer. Shop around. Get the info off the tires and google it. See what you find.

Dealerships are also known as STEALerships. They will do ANYTHING they can to get you to buy from them. And ontop of that they have a 500 to 1000% markup on EVERYTHING. They will feed you a line to get you to buy this and that from them.

They should always be your last choice to go to. Check out Tirerack.com. They have GREAT deals on tires, FAST shipping, and you can read reviews written by other people about each tire.

    Hope this helped!

OE tires on that car are designed to have low rolling resistance. Non OE tires decrease the efficiency of the car. You are going to pay at either end, whether by greater cost or by lower fuel economy. Up to you.

You can save up to 50% by buying tires elsewhere, especially on sale. Just buy a highway rated tire with a 60,000 mile warranty. That should do it.
