95% of the population of the planet has Herpes... Chicken Pox... Cold Sores... Shingles. They are ALL forms of herpes.

Just like with Genital Herpes, you don't have to be showing signs of a break out to spread the disease.

My friend almost died when under a year old because a family member kissed her and gave her herpes. She was covered with the blisters and her doctor said that the fact that she is alive and not retarded (if it spread to the brain) or blind is nothing short of miraculous.

So there is herpes... Oh god... What is it called? The "Kissing Disease" that takes MONTHS to get over? Infectious mononucleosis a.k.a. Mono. That is a bad one... Rare but bad.

You can even get Oral HPV. Human Papaloma Virus. (When on the genitals it is Genital Warts)

Your mouth has just as many germs in it as a dog's... And if you happen to kiss someone where there is even a micro abrasion, you can potentially spread the germs and/or virus to the person.

You can transmit most STD's through oral contact so you are not just SLEEPING with everyone that person has ever slept with... You are kissing every person that person has ever slept with.

I do not kiss on the mouth... I do the "European Cheek Kiss" thing to everyone or hug unless it is a "Partner".

Everyone else gets either a cheek kiss or an air kiss...

Your mouth is only second to your hands in regards to numbers of germs.

You are, literally, better off kissing someone's butt then you are kissing them on the mouth because your butt has 1/100th the number of germs that your mouth, face, and hands have.

Check out this video about toilet seat covers... They test a series of people for the germs found on their butts and they did cultures of the germs found ONE INCH from the 'butt crack', face, and hands. (And the guys had swabs from their scrotal area too)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaMD7nsPuHo

They come back with great results... Your face and hands have WAY FEWER GERMS then 1 inch from your butt crack.

Literally... Scientifically... WITH EVIDENCE... You are better off licking a public toilet seat then kissing your grandmother on the mouth.

Common cold, flu and mono all passed on from the infected kisser to the kissee. Herpes also which causes cold sores on the lips or inside the mouth. Hepatitis B and some forms of bacterial meningitis could also be transmitted through kissing alone, but this is much less common than getting a cold or flu from swapping saliva or hand-to-hand contact with an infected person.
