Securing your wi-fi is easy enough to do it yourself, but it is hard to explain because all router models are different. First, you need to connect to your router's configuration page. Go into your browser and type 'http://192.168.1.1'/ and hit enter. If it doesn't connect try 'http://192.168.2.1'./ Once you connect to your router's page, look for Wireless or Security or anything similar. Navigate around a little until you find something that allows you to enter WEP or WPA keys. These are the passwords on networks that keep them secure. WPA (or WPA2) is more secure than WEP (since WEP can easily be cracked in seconds, providing no protection for your internet service) so use it if possible. You will need to enter your keys on the router and any wirelessly connected computers/Xboxes so you need to write them down somewhere safe. Save the changes on your router's webpage and close your browser. Your wireless computers will become disconnected from the network. When you reconnect, it will prompt you for your key from earlier. Make sure to remember wether it was WEP or WPA and if it was WPA, select the PSK(pre-shared key) option. Your computer should save the password if the network is a preferred network.
Your network needs to be secure, not only for protection from those stealing your connection, but from those with more malicious agendas that may want to access your computers.
If you can't use WEP/WPA protection, use a MAC(not like a Mac computer, it means Media Access Control ) address access list. You will find it on your router's page under security. A MAC address list allows you to control which computers can access your network by listing these computers MAC addresses. It will NOT encrypt your network activity, but it will allow you to control access. Your router should be able to let you automatically add the MAC addresses of your connected computers(you need to add all of them wired and wireless). If it doesn't, you need to find out online how to find the MAC address of your computers.

Read the router manual.
Look for how to set a WPA or WEP password that will be compatible with the XBox, or set MAC address restrictions on the router to only allow the XBox and your computer MAC addresses to log in.
Read the manual, the steps are different for each router.

why don't you creat a password to log onto your connection. there's a section for that...when you brother goes online,he'll enter that password..i think it's like 16 numbers and it'll protect people from going on it..

if you open the start menu and click network, right click the router and click 'view device webpage' from there you will be able to add encryption so that anyone who wants to connect to your router and use your internet needs to know the password.

If your network isn't password-protected, you deserve to have it stolen.
