Has anyone noticed that gas doesnt seem to go as many miles as it use to?
Since gas prices have gone down I have noticed that so does my gas hand. My MPG has decreased significantly with the gas prices almost 10 miles per gallon. I can find no mechanical reason for this, my tires are almost new the air is as it should be, I have no gas leak...just wondering if this is something anyone else has noticed,.

thats because they are adding ethanol crap to your gas, like 20 percent which just burns so much quicker

This time of year, many gas stations use Oxygenated gas to lower emissions in cold weather. The side effect is lower gas milage. This maybe the cuase but I cannot say for sure. 10 miles per gallon is a large drop. You should have your car checked out. A clogged air filter, fouled spark plugs, fuel leak, caborn build up, etc will effect milage.

You need to check the car again. There's nothing in the gas that's going to do that. A dirty air filter would be my first suspect as that is the most common cause of a sudden drop in Gas Mileage. The O2 sensors would be the next suspect.

Fuel mileage always goes down in the winter if it's cold where you are because the blend the gas with alcohol or kerosene to stop it from freezing, also your probably idling the car more and if there is snow on the ground your rolling resistance is increased.
