Behavioral Therapist is a loose term which can mean someone who works 1:1 with children/students with autism or developmental disorders, and have exhibit behavioral problems associated with their disorder... It can mean someone who develops behavioral treatment plans within the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis (which requires a bachelor's (at minimum) and board certification in the field... Also, the title can encompass other areas of psychology such as cognitive behavioral therapy or counseling...

It depends what your behavioral therapist job description entails...

    No!

A bachelors degree is a good start, however you will need a doctoral degree to work independent.

    No.

To practice independently in the field of psychology, you will require a bare minimum of a master's degree (in addition to other requirements such as post-master's supervised experience and passing the NCE). The practice of psychology and counseling is regulated by the state in a way similar to medicine, dentistry and other licensure-based professions.

The titles vary slightly by state, but most are along the lines of LPC (i.e., licensed professional counselor), LMHC (i.e., licensed mental health counselor) or similar.
