Do you beleive racism will be effected depending on Obama's Success/Failure?
There is deffinately a lot of weight on his shoulders, but I am unsure wether his race is really even a factor anymore now that he is the Presidential-Elect. I am curious as to if Racism in the future will be correlated with Obama's acheivements or lack thereof.
This is an open minded question- but for the record, I am for Obama.

I don't think it will have a huge effect... Someone, somewhere, even if Obama proves to be the best president in history, will say he is a terrible president and blame it on race. At the same time, even if Obama proves to be the worst president in history, someone will say he is the greatest and attribute it to race.
For the most part, however, I think the fact that he won will help to discourage racism, but whatever mistakes he may make won't encourage it.
He shattered that glass ceiling, and I believe that will have a bigger impact on racism than his future successes and failures.

The word is "affected". Do I think the effect of him being elected will affect racism in this country?
Seriously, if you are a racist, I highly doubt it. In the long term, however, kids growing up now are having a different experience than their grandparents who grew up with legal, institutionalized racism.

i think it might have the preliminary results of reducing it. Afterwards it rather is going to probable have a proportional dating to how properly the country perceives the Obama Presidency. i.e. If Obama does properly racism will shrink and vice versa. although, i think the fulfillment of his marketing campaign is an particularly effective barometer for the present state of race family members in this united states of america. i think of that it demonstrates that for the main area at some threshold of competence human beings can anticipate to be judged by utilising their character and skill. the different element is this. If the African American community sees the fulfillment of Obama as an confirmation that danger for them has been prolonged, and that they artwork hard to realize their aims, race family members will began to techniques-set the lofty aspirations of Dr. Martin Luther Kings I actually have a dream speech. i think that a great element of the stress that exist presently in race family members has to do with African human beings lack self belief of their probabilities of receiving honest and equivalent therapy interior the seek for employment and reimbursement. If Obama is quite elected President; it might enhance the arrogance and optimism of African human beings. This skill will optimistically improve their accomplishments and additionally enhance their basic perceived photograph interior the bigger lifestyle.

Just last night I was thinking this: The blacks were enslaved, sold, tortured, raped and horribly abused in this country. Then they were "freed" and denied the right to vote, equal rights, access to education, and freedom from persecution and fear. Wouldn't it just be something if a black man is the one who steps forward to lead this country out of this horrible mess of moral, military, political, and economical decay we have found ourselves in?
I am white, but I find myself cheering on this black man who believes in an America that probably did nothing to deserve him. We Americans are fortunate that not all black people were raised to be bigots and that their patriotism lives in their hearts and minds in spite of years of treatment that could have destroyed it.

I thought of something similar during the primaries. What if Hillary, the first woman, or Barack, the first black, became president and they did a horrible job? What would that say about the next woman or black who ran? Would that sway anyone's decision?
I guess we'll see.

I think if he does a good job it will help with future black candidates. I also think if he messes up it will set them back by at least 50 years. I shouldn't actually depend on one man but I believe it will.

Probably
I already read about "no successful black run country". I can post a link if you want the evidence.....
Lol at the support of calling him a "porch monkey". The person with the username of "N!gger" and a blackface avatar complains about racism. And someone agrees.
Haha, gotta love Yahoo Answers

Yes. He will end up offending one group or another. It's already happening and he's not even President yet.

Just by being elected, he advances MLK's dream closer to reality. What he does with his presidency will only be a benchmark for future black presidents.
