When something threatens your survival, then you hate it. This is also extended to something that threatens your survival satisfaction. Ex. "Live free or die". I think that is New Hampshire's state motto.

Never thought of hate as part of an evolutionary model. Interesting. I always considered it a emotional - developmental matter.

Perhaps it is rooted, as many activities are with genetic success. Someone might be "hated" because they are a threat to the genetic success of another, or to the ability to obtain resources. In this light, hate would be a catalyst for aggression and violence.

Back when we were all cave men hate and competitiveness helped make humanity stronger. When ever their was a war between cavemen the stronger tribe would win and thus be able to spread their genes. The losers would die,so only the stronger tribes genes passed on.Now adays we realize how evil war is.So we channel our hate and sence of competition into more peaceful and or constructive ways such as Sports,Tournaments,Standerdized tests, highly selective universities, and Capitalism. They are non-violent and yet retain the ability to increace our chances of survival throught better Science and Technology.

Hate seems to be usually ultimately caused by competition. Competition is one of the root premises of evolution.
