Alltel/Verizon merger contract info/ Cancellation fee?

I'm with Alltel and I want to opt out for AT&T and the iPhone when the merger takes place in January. Will I be able to do this for free or will i still have to pay the damn cancellation fee? If you know the answer can you prove it with some facts from a source? I looked for the answer on google and got some mixed info. Thanks

you will not have to pay a fee because verizon bought alltel for their towers not for their customers or plans now the merge will possibly not take place till around june but you will not have to pay the fee or anything i know this because i was just in a verizon store today and talked to an employe about this same thing
