I'm so glad you asked! Seriously, dieters avoid Italian restaurants like they're the plague because of, say, the pastas and sauces and oils. In Olive Garden's case, that's total blasphemy.

They offer a Garden Fare selection that has, as mentioned above, the typical soups and salads. For soup, stick with minestrone (with about 164 calories per bowl)--its noodles, veggies, and thick broth will make anyone's mouth water. For salad, avoid the croutons and don't ask for cheese when they offer you the grater. They usually mix the salad with their own Italian dressing before giving it to you, but that dressing rolls in at a pretty high 90 calories per serving. Opt instead for their LIGHT Italian dressing, only 37 calories per 2 tbsp, or--my favorite!--their Low Fat Parmesan Peppercorn dressing, which is thick, creamy, and a bit cheesy...and only 45 calories per 2 tbsp! It's amazing. Ask for either of those two on the SIDE, so they don't drown your poor lettuce in it.

If you'd like something with more substance than just soup and salad (and, by the way, breadsticks have about 140 calories each--not too bad), try the amazingly delicious and unaltered Venetian Apricot Chicken. Its lunch portion is only 280 calories and 3g fat (yes, for the WHOLE PLATE!) and its dinner portion is 380 with 4g fat (they throw in an extra chicken breast). This plate offers thin, moist chicken breasts with a delicious and citrus-y apricot sauce, with seasoned broccoli, asparagus, and tomatoes. Honestly, I almost died when I had it.

And now for dessert (yes, I said the d-word!). This is another thing most dieters avoid: chocolate (gasp). The sad part is that the more you avoid it, the more you're tempted...so why not give in a little?

Olive Garden's Torta di Chocolate has no sugar added, and is a well-sized, dense chocolate spongy cake with a puddle of fudge on top, surrounded by a sea of delicious vanilla sauce and freshly cut strawberries. The entire plate is a mere 232 calories and 7g fat (with only one of those being saturated). Honestly, this is Italian cuisine's best-kept secret.

So don't avoid Olive Garden! Live a little--try it out! And enjoy every second of it...guilt-free. (:

Cooking at home IS the healthiest depending on what you make. Fast food is really bad for you, and if you MUST have it don't make a habbit of it, it really does you no good. When going to a restaurant, I'm pretty sure healthy foods are served, like wraps and what not. As for the Chinese and Mexican food, I have no clue, sorry. :( However Chinese food includes rice, which is always very healthy, so definately order that if you do get some! Hope this helped! :)

They have apricot chicken. It is really good! Salad and soup-ministrone is good. The person that said pasta with no sauce is not correct. You can order whole wheat pasta with sauce. Try marinara that is usually the healthiest. Alfredo is not healthy!

I usually get a salad with soup. That's pretty healthy. But if you want something not as light, I would prefer spaghetti with no meat sauce or meatballs. Noodles im pretty sure has no fat in them or at least not much. Same with sauce. Or anything grilled. Something that is grilled isn't as fattening.
