Can you please help me identify this green stone ring?

Ive found a ring with my metal detector, it is old and has a green cut stone about 15mm x 10mm x 5mm deep. The stone is almost transparent with some dark cloudy imperfections and if i look through it i can see several images of objects in front of me like a kaleidoscope . The stone also easily cuts glass, any ideas ??

    Here are some choices:

    Peridot - Essentially olivine

Jade - May be too soft to be the right choice

Emerald - a type of beryl

Corundum - Gem quality ones are called sapphires

I have both real diamonds and cubic zirconia. Real diamonds are more sparkly and brilliant and I having both can tell the difference. I do think the plan you have is a good one though. What I would do in your place is get a truly beautiful setting and buy a really high quality cubic zirconia (yes there are different grades) and then have the jeweler replace the head to match your stone. I actually placed a five carat radiant emerald cut cubic zirconia in a platinum setting from the 1920's I bought off of E-Bay for $120. It looks like a $40,000 ring. Beware though that some jewlers won't want to deal with a cz. The critical thing you need to do though is buy a really good ultrasonic cleaner and clean your ring every night. For some reason cubics get dirty looking a lot faster than natural diamonds. I hope this helps! Good Luck-

At first it sounded like jade but then you mentioned see threw, so after doing some research it sounds to be emerald. You can read about emeralds at this web sight

Not sure, but it sounds like an emerald. They often have "mossy" inclusions, and are dark forest green.

    It might be serpentinite...

Does the rock have a 'greasy' feel to it? Highly metamorphosed rock....
