What now for Somalia?

- Ethiopian troops are withdrawing.

- The Prime Minister has resigned.

- The President has resigned.

- The government army is ill-disciplined and stands no chance against the rebels.

- The rebels are making a comeback in some cities in the south of the country, and will obviously try to make a grab for control as soon as the Ethiopian troops have cleared out.

- Pirates control the high seas (although there is an international navy taking care of that problem.)

- The UN says it will not send a peace-keeping mission, since there is 'no peace to keep.)

- The people are either in refugee camps, across borders or are in dire need of food aid.

All this and more, not to mention that the whole world has turned it's back on Somalia, are the woes that have befallen her.

What is the solution to all this madness?

One Love !!!

I think you can thank his royal highness Bill Clinton for this problem. We had the ability to protect U.N. food shipments, set up protected areas, kick the bad guys out, and by now we would have had at least some resemblance of decency and order, but political correctness must prevail, and we sent in troops to get the bad guys with no support, and they got trapped. When U.S. Army Rangers get trapped, they KILL their way out, and many innocents died in the crossfire.

The U.N. should stay OUT of 'peace keeping' missions, and stick solely to humanitarian support IF they can keep their hands out of the till, and not STEAL the money meant for people that are starving (an over 100,000,000 make over of the U.N. building, SICKENING). The U.N. is part of the problem there, and has done NOTHING to help the situation.

Regardless of what the leftie drones elected Obama for, they will not get their wish, if he is SMART like they say he is, we will kick the U.N. out of Somalia, send in the troops WITH BACKUP, and restore some order with food, humanitarian aid, and A BIG STICK.

The Somalia problem took decades to degrade into the sesspool that it is, and it will take decades more to become anywhere near self-sufficient.

Iraq was run into the ground by Saddam for decades, there is hope finally now that he is gone, but it will still be years before it is stable again.

hopefully the pain, misery and suffering in Somalia will end within the next 20 years.

I know the people of the world are looking to the United States as the "peace keepers" of the World. We've sodden the ground from the East to the West with the blood of our young people. We cannot give any more. There are so many countries that sit back and watch, some wait and see and take advantage of the "left-overs" France, Germany, Japan, etc. while we are chastised and are people are demoralized by our actions.

The United Nations need a new beginning, new leadership. To go in with a determination the United Sates uses and put these rebels down, once and for all. To use the force necessary to stop them from killing these helpless civilians.

I don't know what else to say but, we cannot be the police force of the world every time there's a problem in the world.

Kick out the Somalian politicians who have encouraged the thugs and pirates for their own selfish end.

Instead of aiding State sponsored terrorism in Pakistan, the US and the West should make sincere efforts to democratise Somalia and employment generation and literacy development programmes there and in about 5 years Somalia would enjoy peace and in about 25 years it would achieve prosperity.
