The movie, Shantaram (?)?

Anybody knows if this book has been mae into a movie yet. It was supposed to be shot last year, with Johnny Depp, but I've heard nothing more. Read the book, fantastic, if movie's out, would like to see it.

I've researched more, apparently, (true?)Johnny Depp wanted too much money for his services, movie did not go ahead.
