Cracked head wouldnt cause the vehicle not to start. You may have melted something vital or caused a worse problem by drivng it that far. If you can get it started the way to tell if you have a cracked head in most cases if you take the radiator cap off when you start it the antifreeze will start spitting out like a heart pumping blood through an open artery. The reason for this is that compression is escaping through the cooling system and the air beeing pushed in displaces the coolant. Hope that helps. Good Luck!!

do you want it to be able to be put back on like a hard top for a jeep? if so its abit more work but a cool option. you'll have to strengthen the top and add a latch or tie down to keep it in place. some of the sport truck and lowrider magazines have good articles and helpful tips on similar chop jobs.

i know someone who did the same-thing you want to do.i thought it looked real cool he made his own roll bar and snap top and mounted the rear view mirrors up where he cut the roof off and gave it a custom paint job some chrome wheels new tire's and the truck looked hot! if you have the time and space why not go for it it looks good!
