I'm shopping for a good AK-47 any advice?
I've heard many replicas have all sorts of flaws and others are just junk. I need something well built, dependable, and affordable (under a grand hopfuly).

ive had no issues with my wasr10 which is a romanian Ak47 clone, theres alot of former soviet union countries who have their own version of the gun, which are now in such buildup any gun store has one, the only thing ive found you have to do is completely dissasemble the gun, clean everything, and put it back together again, since some of these probably havent been cleaned since the cold war, i think theres also a couple american reproducers, and theres always chinese copies like mentioned, it just depends on whats in your area for sale, i know theres alot of bulgarian and romanian ak47s in my area
to the guy below me, learn your weapons before you give advice, the guns you showed are not "Chinese Ak47's" the type 56 assault rifle while similar to the ak47 in appearence is actually skinnier, and not refered to as an Ak47, the gun you showed is an AKM which in itself, is different then an AK47

I own a Chinese AK 47 Paratrooper (unfolding metal stock)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:AKMS_and_AK-47_D...
and a Chinese SKS. I have had the SKS for 20 years and the AK is at least that old. It isn't even stamped Norinco, just "Made in China". If these two are typical of the Chinese rifles out there, you will not go wrong with one. I have never had a single malfunction of any kind with either. The finishes have held up most excellent.
Your big problem will be finding any at all. You missed your best buying opportunities by about 3 months. SKSs are bringing $300 to $365 in my area when you can find them. As for Chinese AKs, I haven't seen any. The European ones I have seen are astronomical in price.
Hopefully they will start coming down in price. Good luck.

The gun I recommend will surpass $1,000 dollars. It's the Polytech Arms Legend AK 47...possibly a post ban model. There a very well made gun and well desired. They are Chinese. I'd say right now you'd be looking at $1,400 to $1,600 dollars. But the price you pay will be well worth it.

well, a true ak-47 will cost upwards of 10 grand
but a semi auto clone will easily fit in your ballpark
try a wasr-10

chinese ak's are JUNK. russian ak's are ok. if you want a real rifle, get an hk or a colt or a bushmaster or a smith&wesson. quit being so cheap and buy a real good rifle before that clown obama takes them away.
