As a mixed race (Black/White) woman am I qualified to answer questions asked of White women?

I am both, Black and White, not one or the other but will you accept me as a White woman like you accept me as a Black woman?

Or can I only be mixed and not answer either?

Update:

I was raised by both parents. I identify more as Black but I don't disregard my White side either.

I am aware I can answer whatever I want to and I personally don't care what anyone thinks of my heritage.

I am asking about perceptions. People constantly say Barrack Obama is "mixed" he's both Black and White but, he can be accepted as a Black man. Can he be accepted as a White man also?

I can be accepted as a Black woman but would you accept me as a White woman?

Update 2:

Thank you all. I'm not confused about who I am but I'm also not naive about racial perceptions. It just occurred to me as I had just answered a question asked of Black women and then saw one asked of White women. Even though by blood I am just as much White as Black I knew if I answered that question as though I were white there probably would have been some raised eyebrows and that struck me as ironic.

I'm giving you all a thumbs up :)

You will never be accepted as white, no matter how light skinned you are. Barack Obama is considered black. It's not about you or him disregarding your white side it's about the world disregarding it for you. I am of mixed race but I'm darker skinned. I have a much lighter skinned brother with light green eyes. We spent high school in the south. He had more problems with white people being racist towards him than I did.

Sure why not, you could answer the questions regarding any.

However it would be difficult to gain acceptance as a white person it would certainly raise a few eyebrows, whereas you'd find it more easy gain acceptance as a black or a mixed race person. Or all depending upon your features you could pass for something completely different like European... latin, Italian etc but you do look more black. The only mixed race people who can gain acceptance as white are the ones that look white (i.e. if you look like Mariah and never speak of your black hertiage) and yet anyone mixed race can be accepted as black no matter how they look. That's just the way it is and it's the same for me.

Keeping it real. No one is going to accept what your made up of. the only thing society accepts is what you look like. If you look black, your black. Obama has a white mother and he is considered a black man because he looks black. The fair skin, well spoken, good education didn't make a bit difference.

    What kind of questions?

It would seem to me, the kinds of questions asked of white women as a group would be directly correlated to how people view them. If you were walking down the street, people would not percieve you as being white, however they might assume you were black since your skin is darker.

I don't think it's about being 'accepted' as white or black, but rather what race you appear to represent; and to people who don't know you, that's black.

Well I dont really accept people depending on there race..more of there personal choices and personality.

I could accept a white guy who likes the same artist as me as opposed to a black guy who didnt.

As a Danish man with a Jewish mother and Irish father all I can offer is an opinion.

Being accepted is more important then being "accepted as."

That is, qualities are more important than qualifications.

And people with race issues can always find a reason to disqualify.

Most people in america would view you as a black woman.

But if I knew you personally, I would view you as black and white.

I have a lot of mixed friends and family and I know that it annoys them when people tell them that they are just black.

You can say that you're mixed or you can just keep them guessing, it's your choice.

Sure, why not? You are biracial, not just black and not just white, and regardless, you can answer any question you want.

I answer questions directed at black women or black people if I know something about the subject.

Your phenotypic features are more strongly black than they are white. Thus, you will not be accepted as an equal by Aryan peoples, but you would be able to mesh easily with blacks. Most mulatto offspring are lost to the white gene pool, as whites seldom choose mulattoes as mates. Mulattoes are also more likely to choose black partners themselves and to align with black culture and mannerisms.
