HELP! My Maltese Is Puking!?

Hi, I need some help on what to do! My 5 pound, 9 year old, female Maltese has vomited 5 times in the past hour. Our Veterinarian's office is closed, and we are not sure if we should take her into an emergency vet or not. Please! If any of you know what to do, all help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

-Kristen

Update:

Sorry, I seemed to forget to add a detail:

I don't mean to be gross, but she isn't throwing up anything solid. Just mucousy brown liquid. I don't know what this means, so please help!

Update 2:

Something else I should add in:

We have 2 cats. Is it possible that her eating cat poop would cause this?

Update 3:

It's really weird... My dog (Mitzi) just a few minutes ago was very lethargic, and is now hopping about our living room, and wagging her tail. What does this mean? I'm very confused!

Update 4:

She just drank some water and went to the bathroom. Is this some strange virus, or does something just not agree with her? She doesn't eat dog treats, and has just had a little bread earlier today. We just came home about an hour and a half ago, and she was sick!

Update 5:

She is starting to eat again... a little bread here and there. She likes to eat bread crumbs when she's sick. It settles her stomache.

Well your best bet is to take the dog to the emergency vet, no one here is a vet. And unless you tell us what its throwing up we really cant tell you what it is.

Whatever it was in her stomach has gone and is feeling much better only give her water but no food until morning as it will upset her stomach again

It could be anything but I would still take her to the vets tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

Make sure she has water, have you any Calpol (baby medicine) give her half a teaspoon of that every 4 hours my vet recommended it once for a puppy who got a stomach infection, until i could get to a vets, you will have to put in her cheek she has no probs with swallowing then

Hope that helps but not too much mind

I would say better be safe then sorry.

For such a small dog htey can dehydrate very quickly causing other health issues and even death.

It isn't normal to be vomitting that often. It is possible the dog got into something that didn't agree with him but I sure wouldn't want to wait and take chances

Call the emergency vet and ask their opinion.

Honestly, though that is a lot for a small dog to handle. You should really get her into the vet.

My dogs can throw up a bit when I give them those chewy bones. Perhaps you gave your dog one for Christmas?

Also, if a particular food (either new dry food or human food doesn't agree with them) they have thrown up.

I can imagine running to the vet because of some vomiting, but watch her and see how she is acting and then decide. i.e., does she go to eat and drink, is she depressed.

Yes, you should take her to an emergency hospital right away.

Vomiting 5 times within an hour could indicate serious illness - the body is trying to rid itself of something.

    Go now - good luck!

What is she vomiting? Food, debris, bile? She is tiny and that concerns me. I would take her to the vet. This could be something very serious if she has gotten into any kind of household cleaner.

    Go now.

Yes, you should take her to the emergency vet. There is likely something wrong with her liver or spleen, or she has eaten something and cannot pass anything through her intestines. Also, they will give her fluids, she is losing alot of fluid and is likely dehydrated.

Call out the vet, it is better to be safe than sorry

there should be emergency vet offices open...go there... and take away her food right away so she can empty her stomach. she might have gotten into something like scented lotion....dogs like that stuff
