I'm an overweight alcoholic, is there a way to lose weight without quitting drinking? ?

I'm 22 years old, 5'10 male about 270 lbs and drink everday. What's the best way to drop the weight/diet while still drinking?

Im so confused. This is not a criticism, but if you admit you are an alcoholic (which most alcoholics do not) why wouldn't you want to stop drinking. If you did, you would get all hot and fit, and get with all the hot ladies and be sober enough to remember how good it was. Hahaha. Just a ponderance.

But, if you insist on drinking everyday, I would just do mixers without lots of sugar. Mix stuff with diet soda, or sugar free juice. Also, drink lots of water. It will keep a hangover away and will make you less hungry. Cold water is best because your metabolism has to work a little harder to heat the water to your body temperature. A little known fact yet true!

Hope this helps. Have fun and be safe!

The simple answer is, you can't. Sugar from alcohol is converted straight into carbs which store themselves on your stomach and buttocks almost immediately. It's very hard to work off this. YOu could just about drink once a week and still keep very fit and maintain weight loss but not drinking every day.

A pint of beer contains roughly 350 calories. A 150 glass of vodka contains 400 calories and lager roughly 390 calories a pint. It takes 3500 calories to burn a pound of fat so on top of you daily food intake of about 2000 calories you're probably adding a further 1000 calories each day at least. You will need to be prepared to do at least 6 hours of cardio and weight every single day to effectively lose weight and about 4 hours to maintain it. Even worse you need to rest muscles in between so you can't exercise each day because it will have the reverse effect on your over worked muscles.

So the answer is, you can't.

Actually, the drinking might be making you overweight. Can you stop drinking? Is this possible? I bet if you stop drinking you can lose a lot of weight. It will also make you a better person. You'll be more approachable and easier to get along with. Easier to talk to. Consider it. A new year is approaching and wouldn't it be better to aim high in your resolutions.

    Best of luck.

You are 22 and what you are asking is a catch 22. The sugar in the alcohol is your own worst enemy. It is converted into triglycerides by your liver which cause fat stores.

    Sorry.

Get your liver checked. There may be fat deposits in it and may be already in the beginning stages of cirrhosis. Are you belching and farting a lot? That's the first physical sign of a corrupt liver.

Luckily, a liver can regenerate if you are willing to make a life style change. At your age, its not too late.

You should stop drinking. You're damaging your body. Even if you do lose weight you'll damage your innards so much you'll be more prone to cancer and heart failure.

The Dr. Atkins diet was once called the drinking mans diet because you could drink a couple of shots of straigt liquor with it. Good luck, and have a great new year.
