Greg Maddux or Pedro Martinez?
If you could have one of the two (in their primes) to be your team's ace, who would you choose?

Maddux, very crafty pitcher who could paint the edges of the plate and hitters had a tough time gauging his pitches since they were slower and elusive than Pedro's pitches.

Maddux without a doubt. When you hit heat it flies far, Maddux could hit a spot the size of a dime with surgical consistancy. With as many consecutive 15+ win seasons as Maddux had, and the knowledge he'd be able to impart on the rest of the pitching staff makes him the overwhelming choice between those 2

good question, but from a former pitcher...Martinez' stuff in his prime was filthier, his fastball exploded, and he was one mean son of a @#*&, but he was no pitcher...he was a thrower with nasty stuff. Maddux on the other hand was a pitcher in the truer sense of the word. More in the way that a concert violinist is more of a musician than a heavy metal guitarist is. The Metal guitarist may rock harder, and play louder, but he will flame out in the end, strung out from a lack of real talent, while the concert violinist is a true master of their craft, moving people in a more profound way...that is Maddux. The thing with him is, he was never over powering, but his surgical precision, and his ability to change speeds and planes, and always be one step ahead of a hitter mentally was uncanny. Nobody took a day off against Maddux, because everybody always thought they could hit him, but the most frustrating thing was that they couldn't, even though they thought they could. Watching a guy get hitters out with 87mph fastballs who get paid millions of dollars to be professional hitters was more fun to watch in my opinion. I once heard somebody say that facing Maddux was the sneakiest 0-4 day they ever had.....enough said.

Greg Maddux of course! He can throw better than Pedro Martinez. He is a future hall of famer! He is one of the best pitchers of all time.

Peak? Martinez, though it's not a snap-easy decision. But Pedro at his peak, 1999-2000, delivered two of the four or five best starting pitcher seasons in history.
Career, Maddux, easily -- though, be fair, Pedro's not quite done yet.

In their prime, I can't believe everyone isn't saying Pedro, his best seasons are better than anything Maddux did. Over a whole career Maddux definitely. But if I want their best, Pedro was amazing at his peak.

Pedro. The guy had several seasons with an ERA under 2.00. Maddux was great but Pedro was dominant.

Gred Maddux man of course.. i know he is getting in the "old news" stage but..
Maddux is the only pitcher in MLB history to win at least 15 games in 17 consecutive seasons. Also, he has been awarded a record eighteen Gold Gloves.
