Is it resonable to be disaplined as an employee, When claiming lost and found money?

$40.00 dollars was placed into the lost and found. after 30 days it can be claimed, however the person who found the $ was not claiming it. Can an employee that knows about the $ claim it instead? Policy for the Lost and found is "If the money is not claimed within 30 days, pay the finder, associate, or customer."

Geez...it's forty bucks, find the person who was nice enough to turn it in and tell them to pick it up. Holy crap.

    I don't think so!

You were not the finder. You were not the associate that found the money and you were not the customer.

Well I know about it now - you just told me! Can I come in and Collect the $40 dollars? I doubt it! Neither can you and neither should you!

Suggest it goes to a charity as a donation and let them use it for a better cause than your pocket!
