Is it time to fire Lovie Smith and the Bears coaching staff?

I've never screamed at a t.v more in my entire life than this year at the bears coaching staff. Lovie is a joke. Lets look at the facts.

1)During the Bears Falcons game. The Bears have the game won with only 11 seconds on the clock. Now everyone else would have did a regular kickoff and stayed in a prevent defense right? Well not Lovie he decides to squib it. Leading to a falcons victory.

2) If You're on the goal line and who have tried a fullback or halfback dive and it has only worked 2 times out of 15 would you keep doing it? Lovie would.

3)We got our *** handed to us by the Packers first game and really should have lost the second one. I belive God had money on the second game and made sure we had a victory.

So who else agrees that we should clean house in the Chicago Coaching staff?

Lovie Smith is a great coach. He isn't so much the problem. But there are a couple of issues that need to be addressed. The first is to get a new defensive coordinator. Smith wasn't too smart to get rid of the Ron Rivera. He built that defense when he was there during the super bowl run. That Bears defense hasn't been dominant because they don't have the right coordinator. They need to get someone that can get that defense back to its old dominating self. Also injuries play a role in losses. Secondly, I think Kyle Orton is an average QB. Sure he's had some good games, but they need to find someone more capable. In addition to this, the other problem is, the Bears don't have any WR's. They need some presence at the WR position. Until they get more depth there, then they can't score the points they need to win. So firing the defensive coordinator is a start but they also need WR's and a better QB.

I think it goes above lovie though, we need a new GM and way of thinking. They mentioned during the Houston game that Brian Urlacher said the big money is on the defense, and the defense sucked. We finally got a decent (emphasis on decent) offense and it we would have gotten turnovers and/or 3 and outs like the defense had been, we should have been 14-2 this year. Only the Tennessee and 1st Packers game lost as you mentioned were our only real losses. We need to start thinking about offense. Get a TRUE big play reciever. Not a guy with the speed of 99 on madden but can only do Curls because the team will always take the long route from him. If that's all Hester can do, atleast have him do deeper curls. lol But I have always thought the offensive coordinator needs to be replaced. I realize Grossman wasn't the greatest QB, but when you make him stop throwing the long ball (his only strength) and then say man he sucks. I wonder why? lol The thing about Lovie I hate is his challanges. Remember Lovie if you miss those you loose a timeout which puts the game closer to out of reach if your down in the 4th. So, I do agree with you their needs to be more coaching changes the player ones. Just get a dog gone WR. If it helps call him the opposite of a CB so it still sounds like a defensive position. ;)

Added to respond to Sundi. I agree the squib kick wasn't the problem, but there shouldn't have been only one spot to put the ball. How do you let a reciever open in your SORRY cover 2 whole, that's by the sidelines. If they weren't going to blitz, they should have manned up with safety help deep. Only rush like 1 and put everyone back in coverage. But no, our COVER 2 crap is the best. OK, are we gone watch the playoffs at my crib or yours sorry Defensive Coordinator.

This wanting of every coach to be fired is getting ridiculous. The Bears had a WINNING record when the vast majority of fans thought they would win 5 or 6 games at the most. Lovie should not be fired. I'm not a real big fan of his, but I'm tired of fans wanting every coach who didn't make the playoffs to be gone. A month ago Andy Reid was garbage and needed to move on. Today, he's a great coach. Enough of this nonsense.

    good question.

I don't necessarily think that Lovie is the problem (not the main one at least). I think a bigger problem is Jerry Angelo. what is this guy thinking paying some of these players what he's given them? I mean Urlaucher comes off of neck surgery in the off season, has an arthritic back, and is already under contract....so what does Angelo do, give him even more money! Same thing with Tommy Harris, many GMs would not even touch him coming out of college b/c of his history with injuries, but not Angelo, this guy is always willing to gamble with first round picks. Did i mention he took GARRETT WOLFE with a third round pick?.....oh he was projected as a possible 6th round pick. He gets rid of Thomas Jones b/c Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson did not get along. He gave Benson a boat load of money before stepping onto an NFL field. Our first round picks have consistantly been flops. That is where we need to start when the organization is cleaning house. Thats why I don't think Lovie is really the main problem. Get rid of Jerry, he's a joke.

I don't have an opinion on the coaching staff of the bears. Look at the players- who are the playerS that are talked about?- Hester. Just Hester (that "S" was in caps for a reason).

And to comment on one of your three OPINIONS- I'm not sure how long you have watched football in your life but most coaches are not going to kick the ball in the air at the end of the game and risk a return for a touchdown. Chicago has a good defense and they were supposed to stop them. That was just a hell of a pass by Matt Ryan. There was only one spot to throw that ball and it was perfect.

No matter who the Bears higher as a coach they will still use the same philosophy they have used since the days of Walter Peyton.

Bears blueprint for success for as long as I can remember.

They will never spend money on a top qb or top wr.

They will rely on their running game. ( Mattt Forte )

They will rely on their defense to play tough and win the battle of field position.

They will rely on special teams to make a big plays and get good field position. ( Devin Hester )

As lame as this is, it has got the Bears to two Super Bowls with subpar-mediocre qb's like Jim McMahon and Rex Grossman.

Having said this. Do you want a change of head coach or a change of philosophy?

If im not mistaken he has two more years/11million dollars. That's alot of money, and I cannot see them just giving it to him for the sake of it. I think theyre going to muddle through the next couple of seasons, hope something happens, and if it doesn't then smith gets the boot at the end of his contract. Simple as that.

He help them get to the SB with a below average QB and a suspect running game, but any coach could do that right

I believe it's time for a new Defensive Coach and a new Defensive line that can pass rush.
