Valentine's Day, don't know why I thought about it today, just popped in my head?

My husband and I do not do Valentine's Day. We may say "Happy Valentine's Day" but that's it. His opinion of it is that it is just a Hallmark holiday. He says, "that day is for card companies to make money and for people whose relationship is in trouble to try to fix it in one day each year." Well, personally, I've always had mixed feelings about Valentine's Day. I've always kind of thought it was more for the girl than the guy. Seriously, what do you get a guy on Valentine's Day that they really ohh and ahh over? Anyway, it seems all of my friends get really picky about their gifts from their significant others. One of my friends last year took one look at her husband's gift to her and threw it out in front of him saying something like, "I can't believe you got me that." It was something with some candy and a fake rose. Don't get me wrong I love my friend to death, but I thought that was a little overboard. I'm not asking for snarky comments about my friend's actions or such comments against me because I don't think that day is a big deal. Just trying to show examples of 2 different view points and what are your thoughts on Valentine's Day in general?

I agree to a certain extent that it is overdone, but if you think about it... it really can be a nice special day. As far as being a girl, it could also be used to your advantage as a day to get just a touch more of attention. Seeing that you two don't make a big deal about it, you don't have to go overboard with gifts and all that. One year I got my boyfriend a digital frame and then loaded photos of the two of us. I didn't get a card or anything like that, but it was a nice gesture. Now every year we take another traditional photo and load it in. This particular frame lets us load the frame directly from our phones so its easy.
