Isnt following the teachings of Apostle Paul following Jesus who is called the Christ?

Arnt they the same thing?

2008 Year of St. Paul who said "imitate me as I imitate Christ"?

Update:

I don't "love" Paul as you say, but it is his year, we are to reflect this whole year on the Apostle Paul as mandated by the Vatican itself. :)

Update 2:

see, as one answerer said "yes yes yes" and another answerer said"Paul is the perfect example". ^_^

Update 3:

Catholic means universal, so all forums are catholic. :)

Update 4:

well, there are Roman Catholics here, so one could look at it that way. But officially, no, its not. :)

Update 5:

thanks Tom z. :)

To say "follow the teachings of Paul" is somewhat misleading... while there are words in the letters of Paul which are his own and His own opinion... those are not to be taken as more than they are. and Paul makes that clear... one must take care to study and know that Paul teaches only what Jesus instructed him to teach... Paul never intended for his "opinions" to be made into doctrine... Paul taught Christ's teaching, and that is what is to be followed

God - Jesus - Holy Spirit... 3 forms of the same God. Kind of like ice, water and steam. Each is water, but different forms with different functions. God does want his people to follow his 10 commandments, however it's not as simple as just following 10 rules. God now wants us to follow these 10 commandments with the right attitude. There are 2 commandments in the new testament. 1. Love God above all others 2. Love others as you would love yourself......if we are following these two commandments, All the other 10 are followed as a result. With these two questions answered, I fear you will still not understand because there is one key piece of knowledge that bridges the old testament to the new testament that you CANNOT comprehend unless you come to understand how Jesus was able to replace "Old Law..IE Old Testament" with "New Law...ie New Testament" Ask the question - How did Jesus fulfill the law...and this may be a starting place for you to begin.

The Church authoritatively confirmed the apostleship of St. Paul. The Church included St. Paul's letters in the Bible, and the Church authoritatively confirmed the truth of what St. Paul had to say about Jesus Christ.

That pretty much covers it ... at least, for Catholics ... and most protestants seem to agree.

Feminists and homosexuals will never accept St. Paul, but who really cares about that, anyway?

No Jesus had been killed before Paul was born

Jesus said to watch out for false prophets

    what proof did Paul show

    did he make miracles

How do we know that He was getting information from God

John Smith (Mormon Leader) is self proclaimed

    so is Mohamed

Paul was a great teacher and he implemented the Love of Christ. He is someone who I like to read about and who I look up to. He is not Jesus and is no where close to Jesus, but he was a perfect example for those of us trying to be Christ-like.

    It is the same.

Paul's writing ARE inspired by God.

Paul referred to himself as merely an example for believers...that if he, Paul, followed Christ, and he pointed TO Christ, they ought follow Christ.

There are some in our time that would like to make Paul out to be some sort of deceiver, one that has somehow hi-jacked real Christianity...they have not understood nor believed the fact that God has used Paul to write His words. They apparently think that Paul could somehow thwart the truths of Almighty God.

Which is truly (dare I say it?) ignorant, since Paul's writings bear the marks of inspiration, AND the fact that even Peter recognized the inspiration of them.

Oh, So Jesus gets a day and Paul gets a year.

Wow, sounds like a true follower of Christ.

Paul said follow him as he follows Christ

1 Corinthians 11:1 (King James Version)

    1 Corinthians 11

1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Paul did love God very much and Paul tries to teach us about the teachings of Christ.
