Just wonder if you know that a lot of Fords are made in Canada and of course parts are made all around the world. So much for your so called American made car. And yes I like Fords... drove them for years.

I own 4 American car's. I work on car's for a living so I've literally driven everything from a Pinto to a Ferrari 308.
Foreign car's still have that little economy car feel which I dislike and I feel like a fish out of water driving one.
My '01 Town car get's 20 mpg in my daily commute. It was the 1st car to get a 5-star crash rating in all 5 categories. Sure, it was made in Canada. But what's wrong with Canada? There's a hell of alot more Big-3 assembly plant's in the USA than not.
Buying a Toyota or Honda just because it was assembled in America is foolish thinking because it's a Japanese company and the other 50% of them sold in America were made in Japan! Period. Plus, the Big-3 have more plants here than foreign makers do and employ 6-7 times the number of American's.
My mom bought a '69 Camaro brand new in 1969. I've owned it for 22 year's. It has 230,000 mile's, still show quality, is worth 5 times the $3200 sticker price and only go's up every year. Try that with a Camry.
They all make good and they all make junk.
Hybrids are only useful in the city under 40 mph. Anything over 40 and it's running on the gas engine 100%.
American car's get the best mpg now. I think the new Malibu is a nice looking car and the Camry is just wierd looking.
And nobody makes a truck, which people need, like America. That's why the #1 and #2 best selling vehicles in the USA in 2008 was the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado respectivly. The Camry was 3rd. Then Civic, Accord, Corrolla, Impala, Dodge Ram and on. It's all on Forbes.com

2004 Ford Focus is really a Mazda Protege. Ford owns 33 percent of Mazda and they use Mazda parts.
2009 Ford Fusion is really a 2003-2008 Mazda 6. Same engine, chassis, suspension.
Ford is using parts from Mazda so their cars could be better.
If you read the reviews for the Fusion and Mazda 6, they will have the exact same reviews. The reviews will say "great handling, fun to drive, sporty, good quality" for both cars since they are the same cars.
Ford Fusion and Focus are Japanese Mazda's
I have a 96 Mazda Protege. I like it because it is lightweight, looks good, and fun to drive. Ford Focus is ugly and has a cheaper interior.
Obama has to drive an American car by force because he is part of the American government.
Mazda helped Ford create the Ford Escape Hybrid and Mazda has the Mazda Tribute Hybrid, which is the same car.

in the 80's and early 90's, detroit got a reputation( largely deserved) for building inferior cars to their european and asian counterparts. At the same time, Hyundai, VW, BMW, Toyota, and several others, began building cars in the U.S. To add to all this mess, Chrysler bought AMC from French automaker Renault. Chrysler depended on Mitsubishi for engines and mechanical parts, likewise Ford with Mazda. The Chevy Prism and Toyota Corolla were built in the same plant, with a different badge thrown on the front. Chrysler minivan engines were built in Japan and Mexico. The LH-series cars were built in canada. What is an american car anymore, or a foreign car for that matter?
By the way... I drive an 05 Ford Taurus, and I think that some assembly probably occurred in the U.S. I'm looking to buy a used Toyota Pickup or AMC eagle as a second vehicle

Ok first, I don't have a clue what the heck this has to do with Obama. Second, all the American cars are made of foreign parts that are shipped over here. They are just assembled here so they can tell people the cars were "made in the USA." Also, if you look at gas mileage most of the "foreign" cars have better gas mileage than the "american" cars. My car is (supposedly) made in the USA and while I love it to pieces, I considered buying a foreign car just to take some of the pressure off of my wallet since I drive a lot.
And for the guy above me, hybrid cars are crap. Most of the SUV hybrids create more emissions that the normal SUV's. They have to strip mine in order to get the nickel to make the damn batteries and they have yet to figure out how to dispose of them, so they have giant landfills full of hybrid batteries. They also run $40,000 for a new hybrid battery, so have fun changing those when you need a new one all of you supposedly "green" people. And don't even get me started on the global repercussions of ethanol fuel. Doesn't anyone every bother to research anything?! Christ.

I drive a foreign car.
I test drove a ford focus once, it was very disappointing. Plus just from research, most foreign cars hold their value much more than american cars.
I really don't see the connection between patriotism and what kind of car you drive...but hey nowadays you wear a flag pin on your jacket and a yellow magnet ribbon on your car and you're patriotic.

Motor Trend said that he owned a Chrysler 300, then sold it for a Ford Escape Hybrid. If this man was smart enough to be elected president, I think people should learn from his choices in that American cars must be quality.
Here are some articles that I have found over the last few months that show that the Big Three and UAW are not cheap or corrupt:

EDIT: Ok people, so a lot of you are basically saying that American cars are the exact same as a lot of Toyota's, Mazda's, and Mitsubishi's. Then why don't you just buy the American badged cars which helps the American economy out tons since the money stays here instead of getting shipped to Japan? Shut up about the whole "my Honda was built in Indiana" or "my old Chrysler was built in Canada." Nobody cares. The American automakers still help YOUR economy more than the Japanese automakers do.
Haven't lost your job yet? KEEP BUYING FOREIGN.

Foreign cars are just better. American cars lose their value so fast. You drive it off the lot and you just lost $10,000. Foreign cars such as a BMW keep their value. I had a 2001 BMW and it still is worth $25,000. If you had a 2001 Chevy it would probably be worth like $4,000. That's why foreign cars are better.

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. "- Barack Obama.
i changed my American car view to a more practical Japanese car view.

These are answers based off my ownership of Japanese, Swedish, German and British vehicles when compared to GM and Ford products I've also owned.
1. They last longer. (Time and miles)
2. They tend to be engineered better and more fun to drive.
3. They have better fit and finish (interior materials and exterior finish and body panel gaps.)
4. They have better status if you care about that type of thing.
5. They are usually safer (based on NHTSA crash test ratings.)
6. They are more reliable.
