Latest windows update wont stop popping up have installed it many times .?

how do i get it to stop and why is it doing this?

Update:

i stoped the auto updates but then i get the red shield on my tool bar at the bottom that dosent go away.

Update 2:

also i checked update history and it said it instaled..

its the xml 4.0 core update

    This also happened to me. Uncheck every update and close it. When it asks you if you want those updates to be removed from future popups, click yes. I also just restarted my PC. It went away but I can't explain why it happened in the first place.

    Are you sure it is a different up date. A lot of windows updates are almost the same and have long serial numbers.

    If it is, are you sure it is installing and not just downloading. It could be downloading and failing to install and then deleting itself.

    Stop the automatic updates service in the control panel, administrative tools, services.
