Russian flower shirts.?
Okay, so I'm sure it might be something religious maybe or something but I've seen lots and lots of different Russian men wearing a Shirt *usually purple but other colors have been seen* with flowers down the button and around collar and they usually wear a string belt or something.. any details on why they wear it?
Okay yea that linen thing is what it is but it's usually silk and with flowers down the button thing and around the collar I'm in alaska and see a LOT of Russians wearing them generally elder ones but some teens as well maybe it's just a tradition
Yes possibly, I'm a stupid teenager that doesn't can't tell the difference *not trying to offend anyone being serious* and I havn't actually asked any of them their nationality so thanks =]

I think you may possibly referring to Ukrainian national shirts, a traditional costume. As you know Ukraine is a separate country.

Tolstovka? Also "Kosovorotka" (I think the two are the same)
here is unadorned variant:

If this what you mean then this is real old style stuff. I do not believe anybody is wearing these except for people in these folk music/dancing bands.
I saw your additional detail and got another proof that immigrants preserve the culture much better than their native land. Native Land moves on, but Russians in Alaska still wear shirts that were last popular may be 100 years ago in Russia.
Same with Briton Beach NYC. Want to go back in time into 1970s USSR, go to Briton Beach NYC. You will be amazed.
So, people say, are remote lands of former empires. People say you can not get any more English than folks in Falkland Islands.
As for the shirts, I sent you first link that came to mind. The same style can be made in silk and the collar can be decorated with the flowers as you described. I think Cossacks used to wear exactly the shirts you described.
