They die, but instead of it called die, or dead, or died, its called apoptosis, or natural cell death.

They will look the same and will probably get turned off because the bill was not paid the cell company will sue your estate to get their money then the cell will get handed down to some annoying relative so they wont have to buy one.

With the circulation cut off so that oxygen is not supplied and CO2 levels increase, the cells self-destruct in a process called apoptosis.
