Support groups for mothers in Chicago?

Looking for some great support groups for mothers in the Chicago Area. Preferably a group that will allow members to meet face to face, network, interact, make friends, and allow their children to make new friends.

Thanks in advance. Size of the group, fees or dues do not matter.

What you think is a great support gropu and what someone else thinks is great will be different things. The best way to find a group you like is to try different ones. Eventually you will bond with a few moms who you like and trust and the great complaint/vent/laugh/advice/care discussions happen. When I was expecting my first I stressed out about how to find a playgroup to join so my kid could meet other kids and I could find other moms to chat with, learn from, etc. Eventually I saw a notice at a local preschool and ran into a mom at the park who was able to give me a good recomendation on a weekly playgroup just two blocks away. Try this. If you can't find anyone stop people in the neighbourhood with kids and ask. Or Google combinations of words including parent, baby, mom and me, mom and tot, parent and tot, playgroup, play date drop in, mom support, etc. Also check the courses offered by the city because they often offer playgroups, child music classes, duffer do, etc as well - and for a reasonable cost.

Don't discount on-line forums as well; you can form some great relationships via blogs and chatting...

Good luck finding some mommy soulmates!
