A free place to send an alcoholic to get help?

My friend has an alcoholic parent who cannot seem to straighten up. She has been hospitalized, been to rehab (and checked herself out) and just can't quit. They can't afford to send her to rehab or anything like that. Is there anywhere that offers free services to help alcoholics? It's in SE Michigan.

Thanks!

As another poster mention, AA is free. There's also NA, which I find to be more spiritual and less religious than AA (at least where I live).

However, if she's been to rehab, she already knows what she needs to do. She probably has the tools but hasn't found good enough reason to make it stick yet (rock bottom). She's already well aware of AA. Perhaps a better rehab will help her understand, but that costs money.

She may have to lose her kids or husband or house or a few jobs or something like that before she gets it. A properly planned intervention may help with that. Hopefully she will straighten out before she loses her life to it. Untreated alcoholism is fatal, but most addicts who are not in the program do not care (the delusion of addiction disallows them from seeing "any other way" to live life).
