THE SPIRIT is the greatest movie in history even though Merryl Streep isn't in it. It is brilliant while Dark Knight is just dark and has no cats in it that I remember.

Because no one knows about The Spirit, it looks bad, and the critics destroyed it (15% on the tomatometer).
While Batman is one of the most popular superheroes in the world. Chris Nolan is one of this generation's best directors. It has a huge all star cast (I think Bale, Ledger, Freeman, Oldman, Gyllenhaal, Caine beats out Jackson, Mendes, and Johansson), and it's actually a great movie.
It's insulting to even compare the two. The Dark Knight is in the big leagues... The Spirit is still playing tee-ball.
