Does Greg Oden compare better to Shaq, Howard, or Kwame Brown?
Oden at age 20/21 (Rookie) - 8 ppg / 7.3 rpg / 1.3 bpg
Kwame at 20/21 - 11 ppg / 7.4 rpg / 0.7 bpg
Howard at 20/21 - 17.6 ppg / 12.3 rpg / 1.9 bpg
Shaq at 20/21 (Rookie) - 23.4 ppg / 14 rpg / 3.5 bpg
I'm gonna say Kwame even though Kwame is substantially better...Oden just smells he has no offensive moves and has been an injury prone since high school, the guy isn't good enough to be compared to Bynum or Howard let alone hall of famers like Shaq, i mean Shaq averaged 30 ppg in his sophomore season!!..The sad thing is Portland has lots of young talent but with Oden not reaching expectations the team can never be great but only good..in other words 50+ win but not 60+ or Champions...I see idiots on Yahoo answers put him as one of the top 10 centers in the league right now! what morons. And he is sooooooo ugly i feel sorry for him, no fortune is worth that face, the poor guy literally looks 70 years old!!

Yes Greg Oden is having a dissapointing rookie year but I think he will improve in the future. It's abit too early to say that he's bust.

What are you talking about? Kwame averaged 4 points three rebounds and 0.5 block his rookie year and has only had one season over 8 ppg and only two seasons where he averaged at least 1 block shot per game, Oden has already surpassed Kwame. You have to look at Rookie year not age, Kwame is terrible and has always been terrible. Bynum is vastly overrated and was on his way to getting outplayed by Oden in the first game of the season until Bynum pulled that bush league move and hurt him. Oden has 9 double double's Bynum only has 10 yet has played in 6 more games and is averaging almost 7 more minutes a game. As I recall Bynum couldn't even get on the court his first season. Oden is not a great offensive player but neither is Howard he's a terrible offensive player who has a lot of physical ability and has found a way to be effective. Shaq did not become a great offensive player until his 5th or 6th year in the league, two season after he got destroyed by Hakeem in the finals, the dream made him look like he didn't even belong in the NBA. That's what caused him to start developing his offensive game, before that he was all power, drop step left drop step right. The only expectations he's not reaching are the expectations of the fans, and to be honest about it 99% don't know a thing about basketball. Heck just look at your question here. This is the type of question that should get you banned from ever talking about or watching basketball again. He is a top 10 center, there are only 5 guys playing the position who are locks in the top 10 Howard, O'neal, Yao, Ilgauskas, Biedrins, You can throw Jermaine O'neal, Okafor, Camby, and Al Jefferson but none of those guys are really centers they are all playing out of position based on team needs. After that there you can throw in Bogut, Bynum, Oden, Hilario, Horford, Perkins, Marc Gasol, you can even throw Brook Lopez and the big soft kid at Sacramento in with that group. For future reference as a general rule, you should never ever mention Kwame Brown's name in an actual basketball conversation if you want to be taken seriously.

He is better than Kwame brown ever was right now. The guy is a rookie who is coming off of surgery, give him a break, he's not like Shaq, Howard or Kwame. I think he will be a solid NBA pro. He gets in foul trouble a lot early in games so he doesn't get a lot of min. Portland is a perimiter team and Nate McMillian is bring him along slowly. I think Oden is capable of being a 18pt 12reb 3blk type player. It's obvious that your knowledge of basketball is limited to looking at stats and how the player "looks" physically. and Shaq didn't average 30 ppg his sophmore season, in face he has never averaged 30ppg and has only led the league in scoring once. I'm not a numbers freak because I understand basketball in and out but if you going to throw out numbers get them right.

If anything, he resembles Amare Stoudemire, with a bit more size. He's more of a true center. Both were/are raw talents that take time to reach their potential. I'll be disappointed if he isn't 10 times the defender Amare is, and pleased (but not shocked) if becomes similar offensively. He just needs a few reliable post moves. Not playing for the Suns should help his defensive game a lot.
He has tons of potential. He just hasn't played enough yet due to the injuries to really get going. Nobody really knows yet. He isn't the overpowering physical presence that Shaq is, but no one but Shaq (and Chamberlain) have ever been that.
Just give him some time. He only played one partial season of college ball. It's going to take a little time, but the payoff will be big.

WTF??!!?!?!?!?!? Oden would have a extra effectual occupation than Eric and is the final between those 3.he would be between the final centers in the nba and his rookie season is simular to Howard's.seem at Howard's rookie season.12 ppg,10 rpg,a million,9 bpg for a time-honored p.c.. from the 2004 draft.Oden would have large numbers whilst this season will end.he will have an superb develop in between the final centers in the nba and would have sixteen ppg,12 rpg and a pair of bpg in his 2d twelve months. Oden would have extra effectual numbers than Brown and Kandi and he's already extra effectual than them!he's a franchise midsection and he will have a solid destiny in the nba and would have couple of jewelry!!!!!! solid centers like Oden at the instant are not uncomplicated to hit upon in this time the place now rather much ninety% of the communities in the nba turn their PFs in C's for prompt tempoes and speedy game. Oden would have an superb destiny in the nba,he would be between the final centers in the nba and would have couple of jewelry. He purely needs to stay out of foul rouble and to stay healthful.Repsect Oden, know Howard. you notice now people do not know huge guy like Howard,Oden,Shag and and so on.Howard must be a #3 on the MVP applicants yet he's not because of the fact he hasn't have been given any know.seem at his numbers over 20 ppg, over 15 rpg and over 3 bpg.those are ill nimbers Oden would have sixteen ppg,12 rpg and a pair of,5 bpg in his sophmore twelve months and actually everyone needs to grasp Greg Oden,Dwight Howard,Shaqille O'Neal and different huge and large centers. pass Oden!!!!!!!!!!!! out of your checklist Kandi and Brown suck

A little bit better than Kwame Brown. Oden isn't explosive at all, so can't even compare to Shaq or Howard. He is a better shot blocker than Kwame and should get better.

He will be a D. Mutombo Jr. , b/c he will never put up decent offensive # just be a decent rebounder and shot blocker. Your right he looks 70 and his body is always breaking down like one as well so don't think he'll have half the yrs. Mutombo has had.
