Since Tom Brady may not return next season, will New England keep Matt Cassel?

Yes, absolutely. They need a backup plan due to the situation surrounding Brady. There are not going to be any players out in FA better than Cassel has looked this season. The draft is a gamble we all have seen that play out. Also, Cassel knows the system in NE and is improving in that system. Bob Kraft and Bill B. are too savy to make a dumb move and risk playing '09 with anything less than a proven QB.

they will definately keep him because look what he acheived after all hopes were lost after brady got hurt hes a good QB and he has a chance of 90 percent to stay im just fearing rite now that if patriots do win the superbowl that they might replace brady with cassel but i also like cassel but the outline they will keep him

they should use the franchise tag on cassell to keep him at least for next season since tom Brady might miss the 09 season too

They'll probably franchise tag him. They could do a lot worse, he's proven himself to be an accurate passer who makes good decisions on the field. I think he had something like 4 interceptions on the year, and I know at least two of them were off the hands of the intended receiver. This Patriots organization really has an eye for young talent and is notorious for making every draft pick, even the ones in the sixth or seventh round, count.
