I have a Router question?

I a trying to put my brand new laptop on my home network. It is windows vista premium. I am entering my security info and the laptop will not register on my D-link (615) router. The computer picks up the router but says it can't connect. I have two other Vista computer on the network and they work fine. Any suggestions?

I looked up the product specs of the DLink DIR615, and it's a WAN/LAN setup. What are you using, the wireless or an Ethernet cable?

However, if you indeed have a MAC filtering issue, you might want to see what revision you have puchased. RevC had two nasty issues fixed in the firmware:

¤ Fixed Mac address filtering issue. Both "allow" and "deny" now work.

¤ Fixed DHCP IP address reservation issue.

    Basic Connectivity. NO Security.

    Wait 60 secs.

    Set router ON.

Reset router: Press & hold RESET button 20-30 secs.

    Wait 60 sec.

    PC Command Line:

Click [Start] - [Run...] - type: cmd, press [ENTER]

At the prompt (c:\.....>) type: ipconfig /release, press [ENTER]

At the prompt (c:\.....>) type: ipconfig /renew, press [ENTER]

    TEST: Connect to Internet.

If SUCCESS: Repeat Steps after PC Command Line on your other PCs.

    If NO SUCCESS:

At the prompt (c:\.....>) type: ipconfig /all, press [ENTER]

If IP Address == 0.0.0.0 connect PC (wired) to router (if possible) or modem and perform ALL steps again.

check whether the related services are running , if not restart the service.....some times if you are using symantec client protection it will block your pc from the network ....try to check all these things

Make sure your router doesn't have MAC filtering turned on. Besides that, I can't think of a problem that isn't hardware-related.
