Problem with SATA hard disk?
Previously I was using IDE Hard disk. I replaced that disk with new SATA hard disk. But it is not getting detected. In BIOS settings, I could see primary IDE master, primary IDE slave & secondary IDE master, secondary IDE slave. But I could not see any SATA option. I have restored default settings in BIOS, but SATA option was not displayed.
I felt vibrations in hard disk which means it is getting power.
Also I saw the msg some thing like 'RAID could not be done as only one SATA disk is present'
pls help me.
BIOS version is v6.00PG

Firstly Unplug you Hard drive, and then again connect it. make sure u connect the SATA port correctly. You dont need to be a scientist to be able to do that...you`ll do it easily.. Use XP Service Pack 2 and above CD to install Windows.(it has all SATA drivers) Also check the BOOT settings/prefrences from the BIOS. Make the CD ROM your primary boot device and The HDD your secondry device. Also check the jumper position on ur HDD(master/slave),if u have multiple HD. Then run the XP installation from the CD. It`ll work for u.

You don't need to "detect" the harddrive as you would with an IDE drive. It should pick up automatically..

You need to disable the RAID interface in the BIOS and tell it to use the SATA controller, its getting power OK but it looks like the SATA has been set to use RAID configuration. What BIOS version do you have and I will tell you were to change this format?
