If they're within 30 feet of you, you can use DS communication, and don't need wifi, but that's sort of pointless considering you could just talk to them. Otherwise, you need WiFi connection to talk to connect with them. Some places don't have WiFi connection though, so if the connection won't connect, you need to get a wireless connection or just give up on WiFi. It can get sort of frustrating, but it's worth it :) The global trade station is pretty awesome, and you can battle with trainers from all over the world after you beat the elite four at the battle tower. It's a lot of fun :) Good Luck

to talk to someone you need a wi-fi connection its like internet if you buy this cable you can hook it up to your com
