After peaking at #20 in the World Rankings, Richards chose a more private life.
In 1986 Richard wrote Second Serve, an autobiography which was made into the television movie Second Serve starring Vanessa Redgrave. Last year, Richards published a second autobiography, No Way Renee: The Second Half of My Notorious Life. Each of these volumes was co-authored with John Ames.
A third autobiography is entitled: "How To Play Tennis Without Balls"
She is also an opthamologist.
