Should I clean out my cat's ears for her?

She has been taken to the vet several times and found to have no ear mites. One ear get build up with wax that it fills up the ear. Should I clean out her ear for her or should I let it be. If I do clean out her ear what is the safest method to do so?

I would never suggest any q-tips or anything pointy like that b/c cat's ears are very sensitive and if you are poking something in there and she moves or her ears twitch and you shove it too far, you've got a problem that is bigger than ear wax on your hands. I would suggest getting a small wash cloth-like ones for babies that are small and soft and wetting it with just warm water and wiping the inside of the ear. Just moisten the earwax if it is difficult to remove and try again in about 5 minutes. The warm water will soften the wax enough to remove it. May sure you wring your cloth out good before you do this, you don't want water running into her ears. If you are unsure or uneasy about doing this, you should take her to a vet or preferrably a groomer.

You can buy wipes specially made for cleaning cat's ears. Just don't stick your fingers or the cloth too far in, you don't want to hurt her. I'm sure you could also take her to a grooming place and they could do it for you if you were nervous about doing it yourself.

I check and clean my cat's ears every month or so as needed (and before they are shown in competition). Unless you are extremely careful and your cat is used to being groomed and confined to sit still, I would suggest a cotton ball to clean them instead of a q-tip. I use a q-tip, but I know what I'm doing.

If your cat moves quickly a q-tip can do damage.

Yes you should clean out your cat;'s ears. The safest method is to put a little vinegar in some tap water and place this is her ears. That is after you clean the ear with a Q-tip. You clean your ears don't you? Your cat should have the same.
