what do you think of astronomy?

i think astronomy is AMAZING. at school (or other places), i get really exited when someone starts talking about it. in my mind, i have SO FREAKIN A LOT of questions about the universe like and i like driving myself crazy by asking myself "how huge is the universe" cuz according to my teacher the next nearest star is like billion miles away!!! and once we did a real life thingy where we made tiny circles to represent the planets and it took us about 2 kilometers to finally put the whole solar system on the groud. god that was AMAAAYZING.

dont you just LOVE astronomy?

Update:

oh yeah.. and in august i saw venus! woooo great memories...

I have been interested in it most of my life.

Learning about the solar system and galaxy and universe is learning about where i live.

I have a small telescope and often i feel a sense of awe when i actually see Jupiter or Saturn.

I learned from Carl Sagan, when looking into the night sky you are looking into the past. It takes about 2.2 seconds for the light bouncing off the moon to reach your eye.

I am a member of The Planetary Society.

A handful of sand contains about 10, 000 grains of sand, more than number of stars we can see with the naked eye on a clear night. But the number of stars we can see is only the tiniest fraction of the number of stars that are. What we see at night is the merest smattering of the nearst stars. Meanwhile the cosmos is rich beyond measure: the total number of stars (like our Sun) in the unverse is greater than all the grains of sand on all the beaches of the planet Earth.

When I was a kid I had a huuuge telescope and tons of books & posters. Unfortunately I'm too dumb to work in the area.

Very intriguing and interesting subject. It's the one subject that is not of this earth! My husband wants to get a degree in it one day and I think he should go for it. I think you should study it long term if you find it interesting. It's one of the few subjects that is always having new things discovered about it.

Its amazing if you read about all the interesting facts, and put the mathematics aside

And I meant those far away phenomena. Like how a gamma ray burst is determined to be a forming galaxy far far away, and when we're watching such short burst today, we are actually watching something that happened billion of years ago. For all we know, now those galaxy created has already been inhabited.

There are other amazing phenomena out there I suggest you read about them if you love astronomy

Such as black hole, super blackhole in the middle of our galaxy. How our universe started, and current research on astronomy.

One of the more advance topic would about how do we explain the universe with 2 conflicting theory, the general relativity and quantum mechanics. One potential candidate that can replace both theories is the superstring theory, or M theory. There is stuff about parallel universe and how gravity can actually jump from one universe to other parallel universe
