Fallout 3 Oasis quest. HELP IM STUCK IN THIS DAM CAVE!!!!!?
ok so i went through the dam treehuggers ceremony drinking the sap. next thing i know im in the grove full of little ponds. the wooden fenced door behind me is locked and i need a key. so i head forward toward the big pool of water. i go under water and open the door thats leads to the damp cave. so thats the first cave. i dive under water and end up in the second cave where i fight off 2 mirelurks and 1 mirelurk king. there i found some stuff on the ground, ammunition, stimpaks, and such. i can see and opening for what i believe to be the trail ahead that i can see on my pipboy. but the third opening looks like its above near the ceiling of the cave and i cant reach it. I tried swimming to find another underwater trail but found NOTHING then i tried climbing but didn't get far. some one please help im stuck in the second cave and cant leave!!!!!
NOT RELATING TO MY QUESTION:
sometimes in the game you can rush and not complete all the quests that are available. my boyfriend did that and he missed about 5 other quests. he got too involved with the enclave quest and ended up finishing the game but not all the quests he had left so it is very possible to skip quests and finish the game. but i chose to go to oasis on my own no one lead me there i saw it on my map. it was really hard to find but it was there.
RELATES WITH QUESTION:
ok so i found a website that says harold is actually there in the grove but he is a tree and he's facing away from the locked door. so im gonna try that. other than that i tried EVERYTHING on my pipboy everything possible to go further in the cave but i couldn't so im goin home and goin to try to talk to this tree guy lol. heres the web site for anyone else who needs help. ps. i would still appreciate the your answers just in case it doesn't work

The cave is only an exit from the cave that you have to go into to do the Oasis quest. You jump down from the upper door to exit the cave and see the results of your decision during the quest. After talking Harold, go into the cave by going back to the shrine where you drank the sap and following your quest marker from there.

I think she's talking about the quest where you meet longtime fallout character Harold, who is pretty much a living tree. I have yet to find it (which sucks), so i cant help past that. Only thing i can say is that you need to look at the pipboy and follow the trail to see where you can get up to it. Often times the pipboy will trick you unless you follow an exact path.

I killed him the way he wanted to die by stopping his heart to end the poor guy's suffering. He's had a hard life in the Fallout universe and he was at his lowest at the oasis. My girlfriend burned him (she's a mean one in games) but I didn't want to let him grow or quell his growth either because his stupid followers just don't get the poor guy. Also, if you stop his heart you get a good perk and Yew's Bearcharm by talking to the little kid. All this and good karma to boot! A worthy, chivalrous choice me thinks.

Sorry to go offtopic but where is the start for this quest? I beat the game and can't recall ever doing this quest.
