Who will be the NY Jets QB next year?

well there are many different possibilities

unless they trade up for a higher pick in the draft there are no real promissing rookies that will be available by the time the jets have their first draft pick

If Tom Brady is healthy for next year (which is 50/50) right now, then the patriots are likely to release Matt Cassel because he is going to want more money as a result of his solid performance in Brady's absence, the Patriots will probably not want to shell out a whole lot of money for a backup QB, the jets would be smart to make a serious run for him, he would make them a playoff calibur team

Then, there is the chance that the still undecided Brett Favre stays another year and plays, even if he does, it isnt guaranteed he will be a jet, he only signed a 1 year deal, not that jet fans really feel like having him again after seeing how poorly he played down the strech and when the pressure was on. However, his future is still undetermined and he could very well retire within the next few weeks.

Kurt Warner had a great season, and is a free agent after the season however, this scenario could turn out similar to the one of Brett Favre, an older quarterback coming off a playoff season. i'm sure the jets organization is looking to head in a different direction. Same scenario with jeff garcia and kerry collins there is a small possibility that any of those 3 end up behind center for the jets entering next year. Not to mention, all of their current teams could try and resign them.

Then, there is the possibility of Kellen Clemmens, the current backup QB on the team, getting the starting job by default if the jets are unable to sign a new QB, draft a QB, or keep Brett Favre. This is probably the worst scenario possible for Jet fans.

A few low budget free agent players they could bring in to compete with Clemmens for the job next year if put in that scenario are:

    Rex Grossman

    JP Losman

    Kyle Boller

    Patrick Ramsey

    Charlie Batch

If you want a old dude, please by all means come and take Kerry Collins away from this place. You might as well get Vince off your list, he will be a Titan guaranteed at least another year or two as his cap number is way to high. Kurt Warner, will either side line Matt Lienart one more year, play for a short stint somewhere else, not the Jets (can't handle New York pressure again), or call it quits Garcia, will go anywhere. I think the dude doesn't age, and has personal goals of playing at least once for every team. Who in the blue is Brett Ratliff? You know Farve is done. I think you should give Clemens a chance, he is familar with the landscape, was a high round draft pick, and has taken a seat for a while behind Pennington and Farve. I will say bet you wish you had kept Pennington, and not traded for the old man.

Well, NOT Favre. Though the man may live with delusions of grandeur, I doubt he'll be staying on.

Charlie Batch's contract will be up. If the Jets would give him a starting position, he'd probably take it. He's a good QB too.

Farve, if he wants to be. they invested to much to cut him (but should anyway) and can't trade him. the Jets need to cut their loses and let this guy go. it was a mistake to take him, they spent a TON of money on him, and improved the O line and Def. and look how they got repaid. the coach is out job hunting.

Brett Favre, because he gets whatever he wants and he wants to keep playing. He's delusional and self-absorbed, yet the media loves him. Mangini brought an over-achieving Jets team to the playoffs in 2006, only losing to the New England juggernaut, yet he gets fired 2 years later because of Favre's delusions of grandure. But, HE's Brett Favre, what he says goes.
